About Big Picture Communication
Twenty years of helping organizations that matter communicate, grow, and operate better.
I’m Jason Steeghs. Big Picture Communication is, most of the time, just me – and that’s by design.
I started BPC in 2005 with the idea that good communication work shouldn’t require a large agency and all the overhead that comes with it. Over two decades, that instinct has held up. Clients get direct access to the person who actually understands their organization. There are no account managers, no handoffs to junior staff, no one learning your business on your time. What you get is continuity, depth, and someone who’s genuinely invested in the outcome.
My work spans communications, web development, strategy, and AI integration – often in combination, usually over long relationships. I’m drawn to organizations working at the intersection of economic development and environmental responsibility: clean energy, ecological restoration, small-scale sustainable agriculture and community food production, and businesses that take sustainability seriously as a practice, not a marketing position.
I believe that good communication, clear strategy, and the right tools give these organizations a real competitive advantage. That’s what I’m here to help with.
My Background
I came to this work through writing, graphic design and marketing, and over time the scope expanded – into web development, into strategy conversations, into operations and systems work, and more recently into AI integration. The through-line has always been the same: helping people and organizations figure out what they’re trying to say, who they’re trying to reach, and how to get there.
Part of what I bring is the system behind the work – the processes and tools I’ve refined over years, and recently some powerful AI-assisted workflows – so the pieces stay consistent, the right things happen in the right order, and nothing gets lost in the handoffs that usually come with juggling multiple vendors.
Most of the time, it’s just me. For projects that call for additional expertise, I work with a small number of trusted specialists – developers, photographers, researchers – people I’ve collaborated with over the years and whose work I can stand behind. You always know who’s doing the work.
Who I Work With
I work with sustainability-focused businesses, cleantech and clean energy companies, small-scale sustainable agriculture and community food producers, ecological restoration and conservation initiatives, and progressive companies and associations using business as a force for good.
I’m drawn to long-term client relationships over one-off projects. Many of the organizations I work with have been clients for five, ten, or fifteen years. That continuity matters – it means I understand the context, the history, and the people, and can contribute something more than a deliverable.
